I Want To Be Saving With Coupons

Published January 16, 2014 by suejansons

I need a coupon mentor! Seriously! I need someone that will show me all the short cuts and tricks to saving the most amount of money possible.

When I was younger, many years ago, I would cut out coupons and go to the store and save maybe $ 5, only to realize that I could save much more buy buying cheaper brands or store brands. So, I gave up on coupons at that point.

Now, all I see on facebook are posts of people actually getting money back from using coupons? How is this done? I have no idea.

Last year, things were super tight for us.  I had been out of work for a couple of months. I was looking for ways to help ease the pain. I saw that so many people were saving a ton of money with coupons and thought I would try it. Don’t get me wrong, I saved money, but the most  saved was 50% on my whole bill and some of the things I bought expired before I got to use it. That is not saving money no matter how you look at it. Yes, saving 50% or even 25% is still saving, but I want to do better.

I have read books and articles on the subject, but I haven’t gotten to the point where I can surpass my best……… Anyone have any suggested sites, classes, or volunteer mentors? I don’t want to be a shelf clearer, because that just isn’t fair, but I do want to improve. Any and all suggestions and advice will be considered!

Hope you have a Scentsational Day!

  • I keep telling my partners parents that they should write their own money saving tips book … the antics and lengths they will go to border on embarrassing. They spend the first hour of their day in McDonalds, sharing a cup of tea and reading all the newspapers! … They know the price of all the breakfasts in all of the different supermarkets and will happily change where they eat to save 1p. Actually, it gets worse … they even share the cheapest breakfast and ask for an extra plate and cup!

  • “Hot Coupon World” is a good place to learn. They have forums and the folks who moderate are very friendly and helpful.

The best tip I can offer is go through weekly sale ads, then pair items on sale with a coupon you may have. So as you go through coupons, clip any you think you might use–if the item was on killer sale–and save it. Don’t buy something with a coupon, just because you have a coupon. They should supplement your savings, not dictate them or cause you to run out and buy something right away.

Thanks for visiting me, have a great day! I love your music Mondays idea.
