My Friend Corona!

Published January 21, 2014 by suejansons

ImageI have a very dear friend. Her name is Corona. No, it is not a beer…………. She is a 3 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. She adopted me a year ago and has made me laugh more times than I can count. She is very social too. She talks all the time and learns new words almost daily. One of the funniest things she likes to do is talk into her food dish. I guess she likes to amplify her voice. And usually she says “Got some food?” when doing it. Her other favorite thing to do is to tell you good-bye in the morning. She will start saying that about a half hour after I wake up and she tells my husband that too. We must hear it 50 times before we leave. I guess she wants to make sure we hear her.

I originally got her for my husband for Valentines Day last year, but he was afraid of her beak. And I think because I did not show fear and he did, she bonded with me. She likes to feed me and preen my hair. She loves sitting on my shoulder too. She is very affectionate and I would get more macaws if my husband would allow it. LOL

Macaws live a very long time. At least 50 years in captivity. In the wild they can live up to 80 years. When you get a macaw, you should realize that it is a life long commitment.

And you don’t have to worry about my husband. He has a Goffin Cockatoo that loves him (and her beak is much smaller).

What about you? Do you have a feathered or furry friend that holds a special place in your heart? I would love to hear about them! And pictures are awesome too!

Have a Scentsational Day!

    • Animals have their own minds and if you try to video them doing what you want, it rarely works out. But, if I do manage to get that elusive video, I will certainly share it! Thanks for checking my post out!
