Have You Listened To Yourself?!?!?!?!?!?!

Published February 26, 2014 by suejansons

Yesterday, I was sitting at the dealership for a looooong time waiting to get my car repaired. Like most people there, I was on my smartphone, keeping myself entertained with Facebook, emails, games, and anything else I could think of to occupy my time. After a few hours, my phone was going to die. So, in order to save battery life, I put my phone away in case I needed to make a call.

There were no magazines to read, so I just sort of sat there and started thinking. Thinking led to having conversations with myself (in my head). But for some reason, I actually started listening to what I was saying to myself. And I wasn’t very nice to myself. I put myself down and called myself names.

Let’s break this down a little bit, shall we? If a random person called you an idiot, what would you do? I assume most people would not allow this. Their reactions may vary from just walking away to getting into a confrontation with this person, but you would not allow this to continue, would you?

And let’s say a friend of yours told you that you couldn’t do anything right. What would you do in this situation? Whether you work it out with them or just stop being friends with them, you still would not allow this behavior.

So, I asked myself why it was ok that I speak to myself this way. I would not stand for other people to treat me so badly. I could not think of a good reason why. I started analyzing the situation, and I realized that I didn’t even notice this is how I was talking to myself. I just was not paying attention, although the damage was still being done. I am willing to bet that most people that have this problem don’t realize it is happening either.

I found an interesting article regarding the topic.  http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/do-you-suffer-from-negative-self-talk This article helps explain how some people begin their negative self talk. For me, I am pretty sure it happened from my first marriage. You can read a little bit about it here http://wp.me/p4eYpE-28. It was a tough road for a while, but I was able to get out.

But there is good news! There are ways you can help yourself! Here is an article filled with quotes that help you see your own value and self-worth. http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/15-quotes-help-smash-negative-thinking/.  And here is another article that deals with negativity in general. http://www.marcandangel.com/2014/02/23/15-powerful-beliefs-that-will-free-you-from-negativity/. I hope that these articles help people to cope and to understand this behavior.

And I will end with this quote that I found very powerful from the 15 Quotes post……….

“You’ve your five senses to create and express yourself for a happy life. Why let mere thoughts alone overpower all of them?” – Alden Tan

My Top 5 Reasons for Joining Scentsy (or any Direct Sales company)

Published February 24, 2014 by suejansons

I bet you know at least one person that is in the Direct Sales Industry. Or maybe you are involved in one yourself! But for those of you that are not, you may be wondering what the draw is. Here are my top 5 reasons for joining the Scentsy Family!

1. Being My Own Boss – I think most people would love to be their own boss. You make the rules and only answer to yourself and your customers. What’s not to love? I think the economy is such that working for a big corporation does not give you the security that it once did. And what about the effort you put in to working? Who knows better than you how much you bust your butt and the sacrifices you make in the name of getting the job done? And you can set your own quotas and goals! And you reap the benefits of your hard work! And what about flexible schedules? You can work your business around your kids schedules or your work schedule or both! Most people in direct sales start off working a full time job until they are able to do it full time. I personally look forward to that day!

2. Reasonable Start-Up Fees – Most Direct Sales companies offer very reasonable start up fees. To join Scentsy, it costs $ 99.00. You get everything you need to start your own business including samples and business supplies. You also get access to your own website for free for your first 90 days. You also get access to unlimited training on the workstation. In my opinion, that is a bargain price for everything you get. Also, you get the wisdom and support of your upline. It benefits them for you to succeed, so they should be giving you as much help as you need.

3. Money! – Duh! It is the whole reason you want to be your own boss! With Scentsy, you get a very generous compensation plan, and you can win incentive trips and other perks. And you can set your own limits and goals. You can earn as much as you want if you are willing to put the effort in.

4. Personal Growth – I have learned so much about myself and pushed my limits farther than I ever thought I would or could! I have learned so much from my Director and my Peers too. When you share what works, you all win.  I have also read many books on Direct Sales and Leadership and have learned I possessed many of the skills required, I just didn’t know it. And I also learned more skills that I don’t think I would ever have tried to learn if it weren’t for Scentsy. I am really grateful for all of this knowledge. It really has helped me to become a better person.

5. A Great Support Network – There are over 100 members on my Scentsy Team, and I have to say that 99% of the people are very helpful and supportive. Even people that are not on my team have been super helpful to me. We call is Scentsy Spirit. We are not in competition with each other. We are all people in the same industry working to support our families. I have never come across another person that tried to hurt my business in any way. I always let other Scentsy Family members that I meet that are not on my team know that I am there to help them if they ever need it. I have met so many wonderful people because of Scentsy! It is great to be involved in such a positive group!

Those are my top reasons! There are also many other companies that have great products. The key is to find a product that you love! When you are passionate about your product, it shows. I believe Scentsy offers an awesome product and if you are interested in learning more, you can check out my website at http://www.makessweetscents.scentsy.us . And if you are ready to join, I would love you to have you on my team! You can also join by clicking that same link! If this inspired you to join another company, I wish you the best of luck. There is no better feeling than doing what you love, helping others, and making money!

Music Monday February 24, 2014

Published February 24, 2014 by suejansons

Today’s pick is a little different than usual. I chose Linkin Park doing a cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep.” This video is from the 2011 iTunes Festival in London. I think it shows the softer side of the band. Most people know them for their mix of Hip Hop and Metal, but they are so much more than that. I am lucky enough to have seen them live twice and both were awesome shows. I know the band may not appeal to everyone, but this song definitely shows their musical ability, in my opinion. And of course, it is an Adele song. Who does not like Adele, anyway? And this is one of my favorite songs from her.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Do You Love Vintage Clothing?

Published February 21, 2014 by suejansons

There is just something about the vintage look that is so romantic to me………. I just love the look. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and all those classic movies. But, to get your hands on real vintage pieces can cost you a pretty penny.

There is a website where they have a wide variety of vintage inspired clothing! And it is all very reasonably priced. The site is called Ruche and you can click this link. www.shopruche.com. They have many ways to search for what you want. You can check out new arrivals, sale items, back in stock, and so much more. My favorite way to shop is by checking out their Look Book. It is sort of an on line catalog. But they seem to put a lot of effort into each look. And I cannot tell you how many times I have loved a look and went to go purchase it and they were sold out. That is where the back in stock search comes in handy.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces from their New Arrivals section.

Pink skirt Ruche

Green Dress

Eiffel Tower Earrings

These are just a few of the things I found that I love. I am sure you can find a few things that you would love to have as well. By the way, I was not endorsed in any way for writing this post. I just happen to really like this site and thought I would share it with you.

What a crazy, cold, snowy winter we have had! And it is not quite over yet. Even here in Florida, we have had cold and crazy weather. But, spring is on it’s way! I am sure you are all ready for the change of seasons.
I am posting the “Summertime Sadness” video by Lana Del Ray because let’s face it, we are all missing summer. This remix has a pretty upbeat tempo to get you moving on this fantastic Friday! The weekend is here, even if summer isn’t. Let’s dream of the warm weather and all the plans we can make when it gets here!
