I had mentioned in a previous post that my husband and I were candidates for Valentine King and Queen of our local Moose Lodge. The event was held this past Saturday night. It really was a great time. The ballroom was decorated beautifully in red and white with roses and doves as the theme. There was a great turn out for the dance, as usual. Lots of people at the Moose love to dance.
There were 5 couples as candidates, and members vote by putting money up for whichever couple they would like to see win. I think a lot of people donate equally between all the candidates. All money raised goes to a great cause, Mooseheart. You can find out more about the Moose @ www.mooseintl.org.
The ladies all wear white gowns. Many of them, including mine, looked like wedding dresses. And all of the ladies looked lovely. The men wore white jackets with black pants and black ties and cumberbunds. The men all looked sharp. None of the candidates knew who won until the moment we were all called out. They called them out in reverse order, like they do in beauty pageants. And much to our surprise, my husband and I won! We could not have been happier either! My husband got a crown, and I got a tiara. We both got red and white robes. I got a dozen roses, too! It was really all very surreal! Being fairly new members, we did not think it was likely.
But, the best part of all is that all 5 couples, collectively, raised over $ 1000 for Mooseheart!
Here are pictures from the event. I am waiting to get the more professional pictures, so these will have to do.
Have a Scentsational Day!
