Music Challenge Day 5!

Published May 16, 2014 by suejansons

Today the challenge is to name a song that gets stuck in your head often. I can’t say that one song gets stuck in my head, but when one does, it is usually one I do not like. Does this happen to you too? It is really annoying. And I would guess that the reason a song you don’t like gets stuck in your head is because the radio OVERPLAYS it.

For a while, I only played cd’s in my car while I was driving. That was because the songs that were being played were no longer to my liking. I tried switching stations, but that only led to the same problem. And all of the commercials. That gets very annoying.

So, the artist that is annoying to me that popped into my head is Ke$ha. She always sounds whiney to me. So pick any of her songs and insert here! LOL

Have a great day!

Music Challenge Day 4!

Music Challenge Day 4!

Today’s challenge asks for a song that calms me down. While I would argue that all music calms me down, I guess I will narrow it down a bit.
I will have to go with one of my most favorite bands, Coldplay. All their music is calming to me. If I have to pick one song, it would be Trouble. It has a soft gentle beat. It has soft piano, too! And the song is about asking for forgiveness, which is a calming thing to do. When you ask for forgiveness, you are trying to calm a situation. If you have wronged someone, whether they are mad or not, you are trying to right a wrong.
Trouble is also one of my favorite Coldplay songs, although one could argue that they are all my favorite songs. LOL

So, take a look at the video and see if you agree that this is a calming song. Have a great day!

Are you a Harry Potter Super Fan?

Published May 14, 2014 by suejansons

Are you a Harry Potter Super Fan?

I have to be honest. I have not read a single Harry Potter book, nor have I seen any of the movies. Before you get all hateful, I have nothing against Harry Potter. I just never got into it.

Anyway, I understand that people just LOVE him and his stories.

I did not receive this invitation, but wanted to let you know that Universal Studios Orlando will be opening up an additional section of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter called Diagon Alley.
The major attraction to this addition is the ride Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.

The ride will feature some of your favorite characters, and some of your not-so-favorite characters.

During the journey, you will:
Marvel at the 60-foot, fire-breathing Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon atop Gringotts Wizarding Bank
Tour Gringotts bank and pass through the marble hall where you’ll see goblins hard at work
Race through a labyrinth of underground Gringotts vaults
Encounter the villainous Death Eater, Bellatrix Lestrange, as she attempts to send you to your doom
Come face to face with He Who Must Not Be Named
Experience even more mind-blowing moments

The ride will use 360-degree themed sets, digital high-definition animation, 3-D projection systems and live special effects.

I am a huge fan of the rides at Universal, and I am sure this one will not disappoint. I will keep you posted on the reviews. I can guarantee that the lines will be very long for this ride when it is officially opened. If you don’t mind the expense and don’t want to wait in line, Universal offers an Express Pass. You can skip the lines once for each ride in the park you purchase it in. Since we live here, we have never purchased one because we can come back when ever we want.

No word yet on when this will be open to the public, but it should be opened very soon.

If you plan on visiting Orlando, this will be a Must Do item!

Music Challenge Day 3

Published May 14, 2014 by suejansons

My mom was a big fan of Neil Diamond, Tom Jones and all those 70’s heart throbs. I believe she even went to see Tom Jones in concert once. She was not as big of a music fan as I am, though. I have been to 100’s of concerts and own more songs on my iPod than I can count. Not to mention all the cd’s I have as well.

Back to my mom! As I said my mom was a fan of Neil Diamond. I am pretty sure she liked all of his songs. But the one that reminds me most of her is Coming To America. She was born in Germany and did not come to the US until her 20’s. She didn’t speak any English and only knew one person here. That was my father. She had to jump through a lot of hoops in order to come here to stay. To this day, she has very strong feelings about immigration laws.

So, with my mom in mind the link to the video is below! Have an AWESOME day!

Orlando Fringe Festival

Published May 13, 2014 by suejansons

Since Orlando is a tourist town, I thought I would start including happenings in and around Orlando. I plan to cover a wide variety of events so there will be something for everyone.  I hope you enjoy reading about it and if you ever visit, are able to join in on the fun!

The 23rd Annual Orlando Fringe Theatre Festival takes place May 14th-27th in Orlando’s Loch Haven Park.

The Orlando Fringe Festival lasts 14 days. It is a Festival of arts in many forms, including comedy, music, dance, to name a few, that is not censored or judged in any way. 100% of the ticket sales go directly to the artists.

The Orlando Fringe wants to provide an outlet for the community to be able to have creative experiences that are affordable and accessible.

Fringe is a celebration of the theatrical and performing arts. The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival takes place in and around Loch Haven Park over 14 days.  The Orlando Fringe Festival encompasses roughly 500 uncensored and non-juried performances each year, an outdoor stage and infamous BEER TENT, Visual Fringe and Kids Fringe!

Here are the specifics straight from The Fringe!

The Orlando Fringe is the longest running Fringe Festival in the United States, celebrating 23 years as “Orlando’s most unique cultural experience”.  Orlando Fringe is a proud member of the United States Association of Fringe Festivals (USAFF) and the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF)

A Fringe button is required to enter any Fringe show within any venue for anyone 13 years and older.  A Fringe button is not required for children 12 and under.  The button costs $9 (cash only) and is a one-time purchase. Button proceeds go directly to support the Fringe.  Fringe buttons cannot be purchased online.  Buttons can be purchased at any of the Fringe Box Offices and various Fringe Merchandise Booths located throughout the Festival.

Individual Show Tickets

Each performing group determines their own ticket price. The tickets range from Free – $11. There is a $1.25 ticket surcharge for each ticket purchased online and a $1 ticket surcharge for each ticket purchased at the Fringe Box Office regardless of payment type. 100% of Box Office sales go directly to the artists in the show you purchase tickets for.

Kids Fringe is a special part of the Orlando Fringe Festival just for kids and families! Located, for the third year in a row, in the beautiful sculpture gardens of the Mennello Museum of American Art, Kids Fringe offers performances by Fringe artists, classes, art activities and more! Kids Fringe is FREE to all participants and runs 10-4 both weekends of the festival.

Visual Fringe

Visual Fringe is the portion of the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival that consists of visual art. Like the theater portion of the festival, Visual Fringe is uncensored and un-juried and 100% of the money made in art sales is given back to the artists. The main focus of the Visual Fringe is to allow an outlet for artists to push beyond their usual medium, subject matter and comfort zone to bring true uniqueness to this exhibition and foster the celebration of creativity.

With the great success of the VF Market of 2013, this year will be another amazing one for Visual Fringe as we are working with Orlando Museum of Art to hold our Visual Fringe Market, 4-8 pm Saturday and Sunday of both weekends.

Music Challenge Day 2!

Warning! This song is ANGRY!

Today’s music challenge asks for a song that reminds you of your most recent ex. I have posted about him already, and the general consensus is that he was not a very nice person. It should come as no surprise that I choose this very angry song. He is the lowest of the low. I must say that I played this song a lot after we broke up. And I was angry for a very long time. Mostly at myself for allowing such a low life to actually become a part of my life and for not seeing the kind of person he was.

So, for your angry listening and viewing pleasure, here is Whatever by Godsmack!
