Diet Update

Published June 27, 2014 by suejansons

I posted on Monday that I started my Slim Fast diet. I am happy to say that I have lost 7 lbs. since Monday! I have to admit that the stress of this week has aided in the amount of weight I have lost, but regardless, I am losing! The first couple of days were a little hard hunger wise. I had to time my snacks out so that I could get through the day without eating more than I was supposed to.

I have been allowed 1200 calories per day. While that might not seem like a lot of calories,if you plan right, you can make it work. You are allowed 2 shakes each day. On for breakfast and one for lunch. Each shake equals 190 calories. You are also allowed 3 snacks per day. They have snack bars which equal 190, at least the snacks I chose. I got the chocolate mint snack bars which are pretty tasty. And they also give you a list of acceptable snacks which include, fruits, veggies, nuts and other good choices. And your dinner is a well balanced meal of 500 calories.

I chose to eat all my snacks before dinner because I am not usually hungry after dinner anyway. That seemed to work. And I found great recipes from the Slim Fast website. There is something for everyone there. And I have to say that the first recipe we tried was the best! My husband is on the diet with me, which helps a lot. We made a roasted chicken recipe which tasted like the best thing we ever ate that night. I am not sure how much of it was because we were hungry, but I will venture to say that we probably would have liked it anyway.

For those of you looking for a diet that is reasonably priced and easy to follow, I would recommend this one. This is NOT a sponsored post. All opinions are my own and I did not receive anything for writing about it.

I

Rejected!

Published June 27, 2014 by suejansons

So, as those who follow me know, I have been looking for a new job. Well, I started a little while ago. It was far and the money wasn’t quite what I needed, but I needed a job. So, on I went to the new chapter, hoping for the best. After a month, I was told I was no longer needed. WOW! Not one word of things I did wrong. I was always on time. I was nice and cordial with everyone.

When I started, I was told that they have a hard time finding someone in the position I took. Should have been a sign. I got pretty much no training. Just dropped in and was expected to swim. I don’t know if the fact that I did not remember every single customer was the issue. When you are new, it is hard to keep track of everything, or is it just me?

I am now looking again. I am hoping to be able to blog more often while I am home searching. I have decided to try to get out of the construction industry, but I guess I will go where ever I have to. Sad, but true. Wish me luck, please. Rejection hurts.

Today We Diet!

Today We Diet!

I started a diet today! I have been steadily gaining a little weight over the last few weeks, and have finally decided I am over it. I am hoping to lose 25 pounds, but would be happy to lose 15. We will see how my journey goes.
After doing some research, I decided to try SlimFast. There are a few reasons why:
First, it is very convenient. One thing I lack in my life is time. With SlimFast, it really doesn’t take a lot of time because the shakes are already made up for you. All you have to do is stick them in the refrigerator and take them to work in the morning. Can’t get much simpler than that.
Second, it is pretty affordable. The cost of the shakes and bars are equal to, if not less, the cost of the meal you are replacing. And in my house, the fact that we buy it up front instead of each day, like we would lunch, is a bonus. It helps with the budgeting.
Third, I have researched and have seen other have great results using the SlimFast plan.
I plan on keeping you updated on my progress. I am also hoping that sharing this journey with you will keep me accountable for what I do. My husband is also on this journey, but I will not be sharing his journey here. He has his own blog and I believe he will be sharing his story there.
I also wanted to let you know that these are NOT sponsored posts. The decision to use these products were my own.
The website has said you can lose up to 6 lbs in 2 weeks, which would bring me halfway to my reality goal. That would be so sweet.
Wish me luck and have a great day!

Steve’s Music Mix Part 2 for June 9, 2014

Published June 9, 2014 by suejansons

Here’s a reminder how it works:

Each week I will post 3 new questions so…

(1) Go to the music player of your choice and put it on shuffle
(2) Say the questions aloud and press play
(3) Use the song title as your answers
(4) NO CHEATING

Carrying on the theme from last week with trying to mess with the music gods I’ve decided to ask questions from one song. “I Am, I Feel” by Alisha’s Attic. I’m not sure why this one came to mind but, hey, let’s see what happens…

Title your post “Steve’s Music Mix – …” and link back to this week’s page.

Post your response in the comment section of that week’s page.

Any suggestions for future questions welcomed!

For more information, to submit ideas for future questions or just general feedback go to Steve’s Music Mix.

Here are this week’s questions and my answers:

I am…?

Cure for the Itch by Linkin Park

Comments: I am really afraid to ponder this….. What itch would this be and why would I be the cure?

I feel…?

The Scientist by Coldplay

Comments: I do feel like a scientist at times. Mostly when I dye my hair because you mix all those chemicals, but also when I cook because sometimes I experiment to find new things.

I sometimes think that you…?

Drive by Incubus

Comments: I like to drive, actually. I do almost all the driving in our house.

Why does it always rain on me?

Paranoia by Linkin Park

Comments: I guess it doesn’t ALWAYS rain on me. I am just being paranoid. Glad I found that out!

Where is the Love?

Billie Jean by Justin Nozuka

Comments: Of course it’s Billie Jean. That woman gets around! First Michael, and countless other men!

How will I know?

Lost! by Coldplay

Comments: If I am lost, I guess I won’t ever know. My iPod’s version of clueless!

What a fun one today!

That Night A Book Review

Published June 9, 2014 by suejansons

I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of “That Night” by Chevy Stevens from Chatterbox. I love to read so I was very excited to find out I was chosen. And psychological thrillers are definitely my thing.

that night

The story is about a girl just 18 that was accused of killing her sister. She was bullied in school and tried her best to stay out of trouble, but trouble seemed to find her. She had a boyfriend that had a bad reputation because of his dad. That didn’t help matters either. One night her life changed, and not for the better. She and her boyfriend were accused of murder. Unlike some stories, the two kids were sent to jail for a very long time.

After 10 long years, they get released, however they still have the stigma of their conviction. And they aren’t allowed to see or speak to each other. But they have to clear their names. Can they do it without losing their parole? They have to learn how to deal with regular life again. Parole officers, former classmates, and Toni’s parents, who still think she is guilty.

It is definitely a page turner. Once I started, I had a hard time putting the book down. I thought the plot was very well thought out and the ending was definitely a great twist. I never would have figured it out.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it is a great book for teens on up. I let my stepdaughter read the book. So far she likes it.

I love how Chevy Stevens tackled bullying and the effects it can have on peoples lives, even as adults. I highly recommend this story and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Steven’s books.

Have a Scentsational Day!
