My First (in a while) Shopping Trip With Coupons

Published March 13, 2014 by suejansons

Ok, so it really was not so much couponing as it was BOGOing. I have only been getting Sunday papers for a few weeks now, so I don’t have a stockpile of coupons, YET. I was able to use a few coupons, which saved me $ 6.00. My entire grocery bill was $ 182.82, and I paid $ 113.85, which was a savings of around 35%. Not bad considering I did not use many coupons. I only bought things on sale or on BOGO. I mainly was stocking up on things that I know we would use, like cereals, veggies, and tomato sauce.

My goal is to save us as much money as I can with couponing and stockpiling. When I couponed before, I had a small little stockpile going and it was so nice not to run out of things like toilet paper and toothpaste. Things that are a pain when you run out.

I am not sure if you are into couponing or not, but there are a few sites that I like to go to that give you match up lists to save you time and money. They also give you tips on ways to save on other things too. Here are a few of my regular sites:

I want to keep at this couponing thing and see just how good I can get. I have seen some people get money back for shopping! How do they do this????? I would be happy if I don’t have to pay full price for anything. And the bonus is to not run out of anything. And if I get good enough and get a big stockpile going, I want to help those less fortunate.

Speaking of helping others, there is an app that gives a charity of your choice money when you upload your grocery receipt! It is called Shoparoo. Whether you coupon or not, all you have to do is upload your receipt, and you get awarded points, and points turn into money for your charity and it doesn’t cost you anything. I think it is pretty cool. I have chosen Mooseheart, since we are Moose members, but there are many charities to choose from. You should check it out!

I will keep you updated on my progress with couponing and Shoparoo!

Have a great day!

I Want To Be Saving With Coupons

Published January 16, 2014 by suejansons

I need a coupon mentor! Seriously! I need someone that will show me all the short cuts and tricks to saving the most amount of money possible.

When I was younger, many years ago, I would cut out coupons and go to the store and save maybe $ 5, only to realize that I could save much more buy buying cheaper brands or store brands. So, I gave up on coupons at that point.

Now, all I see on facebook are posts of people actually getting money back from using coupons? How is this done? I have no idea.

Last year, things were super tight for us.  I had been out of work for a couple of months. I was looking for ways to help ease the pain. I saw that so many people were saving a ton of money with coupons and thought I would try it. Don’t get me wrong, I saved money, but the most  saved was 50% on my whole bill and some of the things I bought expired before I got to use it. That is not saving money no matter how you look at it. Yes, saving 50% or even 25% is still saving, but I want to do better.

I have read books and articles on the subject, but I haven’t gotten to the point where I can surpass my best……… Anyone have any suggested sites, classes, or volunteer mentors? I don’t want to be a shelf clearer, because that just isn’t fair, but I do want to improve. Any and all suggestions and advice will be considered!

Hope you have a Scentsational Day!
